Microsofot changing Bing to include search result from Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn

at 10:50 PM
Still Google is the number one search engine in the world. Microsoft which launched Bing (search engine) six years ago still  struggling to increase the market share. Microsoft hopes the new revamp in Bing to include the result from social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and Linked could give good competition to Google.

Google which launched it's own social networking site Google Plus has been well integrated across its different platforms such as webmaster, analytic, and search etc. Thursday Microsoft announced that it would use information from Facebook users accounts to mimic how questions are answered in the real world by asking friends who might know.

The Bing search extensive redesign is to help bridge the high gap with Google, which still serves some two thirds of all U.S. web searches compared Bing and Yahoo.

The new Bing platform from Microsoft will roll out first in the United States in the few days, said Microsoft executive Qi Lu, and will feature three different columns on the page as shown above in the picture.
  • The first column features traditional web links,
  • while the middle column, called Snapshot, is reserved for actions related to those searches, such as viewing movie trailers or booking tickets.
  • The third panel, called “Sidebar,” will feature answers from relevant people on Facebook and Twitter and will soon be expanded to include other social networks such as LinkedIn.
How this change in Bing to include Facebook in search result will increase Microsoft market share has to wait and seen.
